Matthew 23:23-26 and Luke 4:27-42
The Leaders focused on obeying the small details of the law while still being disobedient in their overall behavior.
They weren’t worried about:
- Doing what was right by the people (JUSTICE).
- Showing others mercy (FORGIVENESS).
- Following through on obedience (FAITHFULNESS).
The Leaders focused on appearance rather than substance.
Jesus was more concerned with how they treated others.
The Leaders and the Disciples let their prejudices get in the way of people getting into a relationship with God and that made Jesus mad.
God has always been about bringing ALL PEOPLE back to Him.
There are Christians still today that excuse themselves from reaching people who are different than them.
What Makes Jesus Happy? When we love and serve people, regardless of race, religion, economic status, political stance, sin struggle or any other factor that makes them different from us.
