Psalms 21:13; 57:8-9; 18:49-50
Zamar: To make music in praise of God; with instruments and voice.
- Striking, plucking, playing instruments of all kinds as a form of praise.
David called for the use of instruments in worship throughout the Psalms:
- Israel would zamar to celebrate God’s victories. (Psalm 21)
- Israel would zamar to remember God’s faithfulness. (Psalm 57)
- Israel would zamar to praise God’s love and salvation. (Psalm 18)
In the New Testament there is neither support nor prohibition of instruments being used in worship.
Main Point: We will continue to create new ways to worship God until Jesus comes. it’s in our nature, and it pleases God.
